Promotion Principles

We are committed to making GoodHabitz a fantastic environment for all engineers to flourish and be acknowledged for their progress. The preceding sections outline what we expect from engineers at each stage of their careers, and this section lays out the principles and guidelines for moving between these stages.

Engaging Discussions Over Documents: More crucial than any written guide is the ongoing, dynamic dialogue between you and your managers about your immediate and future career growth and development.

Promotion Principles

  • Beyond the Checklist: Achieving a promotion isn't a matter of ticking off a list of requirements. It's about recognizing the skill development that has empowered you to consistently produce results at a higher level over an extended period.
  • Evidence Over Expectation: We base promotions on demonstrated, enduring impact at a higher level. Promotions aren't about hoping someone will rise to the challenge, but about acknowledging their proven ability to do so.
  • Strengths, Areas for Growth, and Consistent Performance: Being "at a level" means typically delivering results at that level ("what" you achieve) with the skill proficiency, execution, culture, and values that GoodHabitz expects at that level ("how" you achieve it). We understand that everyone has areas of strength and growth, both technically and otherwise, which influence our capability to deliver results. We're committed to continuous improvement and mastering our craft. As you advance through the levels, overcoming significant technical or non-technical challenges becomes crucial to maintain the standard of results expected at each level.
